Innovation In Network Technology, Security and The Cloud

Cisco Live 2015 in San Diego, California this week focuses on vital IT issues including the Internet of Everything (IoE), the future of networking and cloud networking innovations, cyber security and ever-growing threats of attack, as well as Cisco’s vision that is set to leverage the power of the Intelligent Network.

Internet-of-Everything

A premier annual IT education and training event, Cisco Live San Diego includes four keynote addresses, eight innovation talks and more than 750 breakout sessions, making it one of the best industry collaborations to attend.

Innovation Talks at Cisco Live 2015

The innovation talks are a new feature of Cisco Live, and undoubtedly a highlight of the conference, as they provide strategic direction and discerning insight from industry leaders and Cisco executives. The focus throughout the talks is on the challenges, as well as the potential offered by exciting innovations in several key IT areas, specifically the Cloud, security and network technology. The message is that ultimately, for companies to thrive in the IoE and create a sustainable competitive edge, they will “need to innovate at an unprecedented pace.”

Each talk has a session host who discusses innovative topics, usually with two or three industry leaders, some of whom are Cisco executives.

  • Transformation Through Innovation on Monday examined emerging technologies as well as trends and opportunities that will help to transform the way next-generation services will be developed and delivered as the IoE becomes a reality.
  • Future of the Network showcased Cisco’s network innovations and showed specifically how the company’s cloud networking innovation could totally change the way businesses manage their networks.
  • How APIs are Transforming Networking and IT yesterday saw Cisco vice president and chief technology officer of networked experiences, Susie Wee discussing some of the new challenges facing developers as well as both network and infrastructure engineers.
  • Cisco Data Center – Powering Fast IT at Every Scale discussed how digital transformation is literally turning traditional business models “on their heads.” Above all else, the new business dynamics that comes into play demands speed from organizations if they are to stay competitive.
  • Security Innovation – Protecting Against Cyber Attacks with Threat-Centric Security showed delegates how innovations (both recent and future) could help businesses anticipate cyber attacks, and guard against them, at the same time performing efficiently in the new IoE economy.
  • Fast Track to Fast IT – Cisco’s Application Centric Infrastructure will focus this morning on Software Defined Networking (SDN) and highlight a smart, secure and simple solution that “delivers on the promise of Fast IT.”
  • Intercloud – Leveraging the Power of the Intelligent Network, scheduled for this afternoon, will discuss Cisco’s cloud strategy and the company’s vision to create the ultimate platform “to leverage the power of the Intelligent Network.”
  • Cisco Collaboration – Work Human will be the last of today’s innovation talks, and will focus on the power behind innovation – people – as well as the tools Cisco has devised and developed to enable effective collaboration and sharing of resources.

Keynote Addresses

Yesterday’s luminary keynote presented by technology futurist, shared his perspective on driving breakthrough thinking and innovation within companies to achieve measurable results. His own motto is that “the best way to predict the future is to crate it yourself,” and he is a firm believer in exploiting “key exponential technologies” to empower small companies and individuals.

Today’s industry keynote, to be hosted by Cisco’s senior vice president and chief information officer, Rebecca Jacoby, will examine the IT world of tomorrow, and the transformation we can expect as the role of IT evolves, grows and shifts.

Tomorrow there will a range of activities including technical seminars and several breakout sessions. The conference will end with a final guest keynote address from TV host and actor, Mike Rowe who will discuss how a strong skills foundation is vital for the demands of a digital and technology-centric future to be met. Best known for his Discovery Channel programs, Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch, and CNN’S Somebody’s Gotta Do It, he will highlight the widening skills gap in the USA, and motivate ways to reinvigorate skilled trades.
